Scott Belsky, Behance Head and Adobe VP of Products/Community, once said, “Sharing is the new networking. Fewer cocktail conversations, more sharing of code, ideas, and stuff that breeds collaboration.” Those words have stuck with me; I’m not sure why.
When I began paying attention to how established brands were adjusting their marketing and advertising strategies in the face of the social web’s evolution, I had dismissed Starbucks as a coupon pushing organization that just didn’t get it, I was wrong.
When we started the COCO Dreamcast I had no idea podcasts would become so popular again, needless to say, we can all agree they have had somewhat of a renaissance recently. I also couldn’t have predicted how much fun it would be producing one.
For some time now I’ve been interested in writing publicly. Not necessarily blogging to build an audience or develop “content” for the sake of content. Instead writing for me is about learning, the sharing of ideas and getting things done.
When I say I’m a digital strategist, my carrying a camera and my passion for photography get put into one of two buckets: The first assumes it’s “just” a hobby, the thing I do as a creative outlet; the second views it as a task better left to those who are interested in being professional photographers. I think both of these misconceptions are missing the bigger picture, pun-intended.
